One of the most important things you can do to get more business through the Internet is to set up your own personal “Pinball Machine”
I was first introduced to this concept by an Internet Marketing “Goo-roo” and, you know what, it made a lot of sense…
Yes, a Pinball Machine!
You know how you bounce that little ball around? That’s EXACTLY what you need to do with your prospects – bounce ‘em around till they’re ready to move on to the next stage of the process.
In the offline “real world,” this is the equivalent of going to all the networking events and making your presence known everywhere you go.
In the online world, this means giving your prospects plenty of ways to “check you out” or “spy on you.”
Let me ask you a question – what’s one of the first things you do when you’re deciding to do business with someone in today’s world?
You Google ‘em, right?
And what happens when you don’t find anything on them? “I’m not doing business with that loser,” right?
You want to give your prospects plenty of opportunity to feel you out because people are paranoid out there…
They don’t want to be taken advantage of… They don’t want to be “scammed” or look like a fool.
So they’ll Google you. They’ll see what people are saying about you… They’ll make sure you’re a good, upstanding citizen who knows what they’re talking about.
This is why Social Media is such a key today – get out there and make some contacts – whether it be on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, whatever.
Social Media gives you some “social proof.”
“Well Derek seems to be alright, he has 2,000 “friends” on Facebook…”
Join an online forum related to your business and make some contacts there.
I’ve done really well with this when we used to be in Network Marketing.
Go ahead… Google search my name – I’m sure a link to Better Networker will come up. Then you’ll get to see how I’m a respected member of an online community of Network Marketers. It’s like a “testimonial.”
Whenever I post something on a forum like this or Facebook, I always have a link to my blog…
From my blog, I have links to my Facebook Page and any other sites I’m active on…
I’m just bouncing people around my Pinball Machine.
I’m the Pinball Wizard – “Who are you? Who-who? Who-who?”

Great post!
I was part of Diane Hochman’s “Quick Link Marketing”
class, too…and it makes such good sense.
Keeping customers bouncing around inside the
sales funnel is the way big business does it.
Observe WalMart or Barnes and Noble…great
examples.
Definitely, Cathie…
Google’s actually trying to get into the Social Media game for the same reason.
Hey Derek
Now I can’t get that song out of my head :)
When I first meet someone I google them, it seems so natural.
Not only should we be bouncing around but we should also be protecting our online brand.
Peter
Hey, at least it’s a good song, Peter!
It’s funny, but it does seem pretty second nature to Google people now.
The prospects nowadays are not easy to convince these days. Too many write ups and videos that makes their head spin. They have lot to choose from.
Very true!
